Thanks for stopping by!
I strive to tell the stories that people don't normally see coming across their everyday news. In sports, the fans are enthralled by every game, but I like to dig a little deeper than what the scoreboard says. I want to know what those athletes do outside of their sport that makes them who they are. Whether it's a life circumstance they overcame or their involvement in the community, any story I can find that inspires people to make a difference in their own world is what I aim for. Most of the news we get today is negative, which is one of the reasons I think people turn to sports. It brings everyone together. I am passionate about telling uplifting stories through sports that touch people's lives and encourage them to never give up.
While I didn't take the same road as everyone else (I started out as a nursing major!), I have found that there is a reason for everything and I am excited to explore my passion of telling stories, no matter what shape or form. While journalism classes consume most of my time, I maintain balance by serving as co-captain of our Division II tennis team, starting a sports radio show for Cedarville's student-run station, and heading up the multimedia team for the student-run newspaper.
I just finished a whirlwind summer, broadening my life experience all over the country and even internationally. I explored the European arts and culture in France to study Humanities. I participated in the NCAA Career in Sports Forum where I was able to be mentored by and network with professionals in the sports world, along with 200 other NCAA athletes.
Then, I drove (yes, drove) across the country to intern in Newport Beach, CA with The Foundation for the Undefeated. I quickly learned the importance of hard work and self-motivation as I planned events for "Irrelevant Week," organized a social media calendar, and wrote articles on NFL players overcoming insurmountable odds in the midst of their careers.
I am eager to continue learning more about the newest and latest ways to deliver news to the public as the journalism and broadcasting world continues to evolve.
I am a devoted hockey fan, oldies music listener, and I dream of working alongside Tom Rinaldi to create the inspiring sports stories America watches every Saturday.
